Wichita >David's Bridal
my first wedding dress.
i signed up for an appointment at David's bridal not knowing what ot expect. then after reading these reviews i was very nervous about going.
i have a very tight budget and was worried because my price range was under $400 dollars. i told this to the girl and she brought me several beautiful dresses under that price. I was waited on hand and foot for 3 hours, I tried on 7 dresses and I fell in love with an 'as is' dress that was marked down to $298. I bought the most beautiful dress and I was treated wonderfully. i am glad i went to david's.
Treated like trash....
...until we mentioned buying something, of course.
First of all, these women work off of commission-- that turned me off to this store immediately bc when employees work for commission, all they care about is making money--not about your big day.
It took the specific employee at least 20 minutes to get the 2 (ONLY 2) dresses I wanted to try on. Only for her to come up to me 20 minutes later and tell me shes been waiting for me on the other side of the store--which was a blatant lie b/c she was helping another girl who obviously had more expensive taste than I.
To make a long story short, the dress I loved happened to be completely defective. The back hem was an inch off centered, although, if you unzipped the back and moved it to be center in the back, then the front was HORRIBLY off centered to the point that my entire left "ta ta" was showing. Come on, for a bridal shop that supposedly has designer dresses--this dress was seriously damaged. they said they could order me another one, but I would have to do it within 12 hours, or the dress from the warehouse would be discontinued. What?! HA! Does that not sound like a sales ploy?! The store manager came out to look at the off centered hem dress and mentioned "wow, we are going to have to mark this WAY down, no one will ever buy this".....(direct quote from the store managers mouth") I took this oppurtuinty to ask how much they would mark down the dress seeing how NO ONE would ever buy it---she replied with 10%. HA, what a bunch of crooks. The dress was in fact, gorgeous and I honestly just wanted to get it and get out. It was originally 600, but was marked down to $300 b/c of their sale(not b/c it was damaged). I bought the dress 40 dollars cheaper and insisted on a free press, steam, and dry cleaning. They agreed (the only good part about my experience). My grandmother has been a seamstress her entire life, so she agreed to fix the dress for free. So, all in all, I did get a beautiful dress for 10% off with a free steam clean. But the staff is more than terrible and the store is filled with a bunch of rich wanna be brides. If you are an average joe with an average amount of money for a dress--I would not recommend this shop. I dont, however, now what else tor recommend b/c this is the only bridal shop I know of in my area. good luck
Terrible. I had a horrible expeirience at DB and i wasnt even the bride!. So i show up to Davids bridal for my Sister-n-law to be's appt. we waited and waited the appointment was at six, and i guess one girls shift was about to end but they had alot of people out there so they wouldne let her leave, well she had the worst attitude the whole time we were there. She DID NOT help my sister-n-law try on the dresses I HAD to help. none of the dresses were her size either.... Dont go there. Check out Reni;s
An Honest Review.
This is long but VERY worth reading.
I had been to DB twice with bad experiences. The first time I went was to try on a wedding dress. My appt was at 4pm and wasn't even helped until 5:40 (closing time was 6pm). I believe if a customer makes an appt, someone should be waiting there and ready to help their client. We were given a room and that is about it. The lady gave me a size 6 slip. I am not a stick figure, but anyone would know I am not a size 6. We had to find someone to help us find a specific dress in a size and she said she would go find it and bring it to us. Ten min. later she came back with the dress that was 4 sizes to small. She said they didn't have it in my size and that was the closest size for me to try on. I didn't want to try it on and hurt the dress, but she said trying it on was ok. Needless to say a dress 4 sizes to small with not look the same on a girl as it would in the right size. I didn't think that was professional at all. Over all, I went somewhere else for a dress.
The second time I went to DB I was looking for flower girl dresses. I swore I would never to to DB again, but there is really no other place in town to buy them at with a selection like theirs. Once again, they did not help me at my appt time. They helped a walk-in-bride and left me and another lady who HAD appts with no one to help us. Once again, I believe they should help people with an appt, and have someone waiting to help. Someone came up to us asking if we were doing fine, but had a huge attitude like we had done something wrong. Once again, I pulled the dresses and had the girls try them on and the whole nine yards. I was promised I would have gotten better service after my first visit, but was left extremely disappointed for a second time. The only time someone was helpful was checkout.
Over all, I had two horrible experiences. It is so frustrating sitting and waiting for an appt you had an hour later and doing all the work yourself.
needs more help.
I was in this store on a Wednesday evening, by appointment, thinking I would get good customer service. Unfortunately, not the case. The poor sales clerk was working the floor by herself, and they had 2 appointments booked at the same time along with fittings coming and going. After trying on 3 dresses, with the help of my friend, and not really liking any of them, se started exploring the racks of gowns ourselves and came up with a couple possibilities, but by then, we were forgotten, we cleaned up our mess, put everything back in the bags, and walked out. They are losing business for being understaffed.
And the big sale of $99 dresses, not a one in the store I could see.
They were unprofessional. My veil had holes in it. Do to what we were told in the store we ended up having to order brand new bridesmaid dresses. They wouldnt replace them. The two options was a refund or pay for new dresses. We opted for the refund and had to go somewhere else.
My sister also had all of her bridesmaid dresses messed up and her dress as well not to mention five other of my friends.
Wedding dress hunting ground for real-world brides on a budget. Princesses need not apply..
A chic, sleek boutique, it's not. But those willing to look carefully will likely find a big-time bargain. The staff is helpful and knows the merchandise but doesn't provide extensive one-on-one attention or advice. Stores (particularly on weekends) can be swamped with brides-to-be. David's specializes in beaded satin A-lines and simple lace sheaths that just hit the $500 mark. Most labels are tasteful but of medium-quality: Gloria Vanderbilt, Lady Eleanor, Oleg Cassini and the likes.
Horrible Organization. Do not get your dresses here. I ordered my bridesmaid dresses (quoted at 12 weeks to come in) here. Three of my bridesmaids got one dress, the other three another. They said that one of my bridesmaids changed the dress, but couldn't tell me when, or who or anything. Thus, two dresses were on my registry. Don't you think they would have called the bride before placing the order? Nope. Highly recommend getting dresses elsewhere.
Boring. If you want to wear the same dress everyone else is wearing, go to this big corporation. They don't carry any real designer gowns that you see in magazines and they can't get them. They just have their own dresses and they are cheap in quality and some of them were priced way too high. They claim to have designer Olig Cassini gowns. You can't buy these gowns anywhere but Davids and Mr. Cassini, who designed back in the 1970's died several years ago. Davids just bought the name and uses it. Most young women have never heard of him, I had to look on the internet to find out about him and his wedding gowns. He didn't design anything for them. It's just a marketing ploy to make you think they have designer gowns. They also charge three times what any other store charges for alterations and they make you use their alteration department or they won't press your gown for your wedding day. Not really fair. I did have one decent looking dress on and I looked up and two other girls had the same dress on. Boring.
Too generic for my taste!. I went here originally because I always see their ads about $99 wedding gowns. Well they had one, but it looked like a nightie. They had one pretty gown but they had it about 12 times and while I tried it on, three other girls were trying on the same dress. It also was expensive for a store that advertises $99 gowns and claims that their average gown is around $500. The only good looking dress in the store was $1,200 and everyone had it on. Too common for me. No customer service. The girl helping me left for lunch while I was in the dressing room and didn't come back and no one else helped me either after she left.
