Local Butcher voted best in state. My wife and I stopped into Mark's meats in Halstead looking for a good old fashioned butcher shop like I used to remember as a kid. Actually I have been shopping around for a side of beef but don't want to get something mass-produced.

I found the perfect place in Mark's.

They have a small amount of frozen ready-to-purchase cuts so we bought a few steaks, burger, bacon, roasts, and German sausage. The meat is all Angus beef and I will say, I haven't had meat this good in decades. The steaks were very good on the grill. The hamburger made excellent burgers, the sausage is like it was right out of Germany (VERY good), and the locally cured bacon is probably the best I have ever eaten. We haven't had the roast yet, but if looks are any indication, it will be great also.

I highly recommend Mark's meats. The prices are reasonable, but you really need to get a side of beef to get great prices. I am getting ready to order a side very soon. You will not be disappointed in the meat at Mark's.
